No one enjoys having a fever. When you find your temperature rising there are a few things you can do to help control it.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil) can assist in reducing your fever.: Other remedies to help you feel better include taking a lukewarm bath or shower. The key is to keep it lukewarm. Don’t make it cold, never use ice, and if you start to shiver, warm the water up and then get out and rest.
It is also important to drink plenty of water. Stay hydrated. Sometimes popsicles are used to help keep liquids at helpful levels (but if you adults want one too it’s ok with us) Just be sure you stay hydrated. Lastly, be sure to wear light, loose-fitting clothing.
This will also help keep the body cooler. Of course, should your fever become more of an emergency situation all of us here at Beaumont Emergency Hospital will be here waiting for you.
